What clean windows actually look like

Most homeowners have had windows cleaned before and been mildly disappointed. The glass looked better from the middle of the room, but up close there were streaks in the corners, grit still sitting in the tracks and a haze on the frames. That happens when a crew treats window cleaning as a fast pass with a squeegee.

We work pane by pane. Each window gets scrubbed, squeegeed and detailed around the edges, then the tracks are vacuumed and wiped and the sills and frames are cleaned. It takes longer. That's the point.

Interior, exterior, or both

You can book either side on its own. Exterior-only is the most common spring booking, it's what removes the winter salt spray, pollen and road film. Interior work is where the tracks, sills and frames get their attention, along with any fingerprints, pet nose prints and cooking film on the inside of the glass.

Booking both at once is the best value and gives you the result people picture when they imagine clean windows: light coming through with nothing in the way.

How we handle higher windows

Second-story windows, stairwell glass and windows over decks or landscaping are reached with ladders or water-fed pole systems, whichever is safest for your property. Water-fed poles let us clean high glass from the ground with pure water and no ladder pressing into your siding or garden beds.

If a window genuinely can't be reached safely, whether a sealed sash, unstable footing, or glass over a drop with no safe setup, we tell you when we quote, take it off the price and explain why. We would rather lose a window off the invoice than damage your home.

Care inside your home

Booties go on at the door. Drop cloths go down under every window we work on. Furniture that has to move gets moved carefully and put back exactly where it was. Blinds and curtains are handled, not yanked. Screens come out one at a time, get labelled if needed, and go back into the window they came from.

Excellent job, took very good care of the screens and the exterior windows. They wore booties when they came into my home and installed the screens back on. Definitely gonna have them come back to do the interior windows.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a typical house take?+

Most single-family homes take two to four hours depending on the number of windows and whether you've booked interior, exterior or both. We give you a realistic time estimate with your quote.

Do I need to be home?+

For exterior-only work, no, as long as we have access to the yard and any gates. For interior work someone needs to let us in, but you're welcome to go about your day while we work.

What about second-story windows?+

We reach upper-floor windows with ladders or water-fed poles, whichever is safer for your home and landscaping. If a window can't be reached safely we tell you before the job, not after.

Will you clean the screens and tracks?+

Tracks, sills and frames are detailed as part of interior service. Screen cleaning is available as an add-on, just say so on your quote request and we'll price it in.

How often should home windows be cleaned?+

Twice a year works for most Chicagoland homes, once in spring after the salt and grit of winter, once in fall. Homes near busy roads, construction or heavy tree cover often prefer quarterly.
